Social networking is very popular; it allows you to contact people all around the world. Signing up to a social networking site can be very simple you only have to answer a few questions about yourself like your date of birth and email address, on most social networking sites you can hide these details if you wish. On social networking sites you can add photos and videos; you can also privately message someone or speak on your profile which would not private to everyone.

In your profile is where people will find out things about you and you can post your thoughts and hobbies to everyone able to view it, this would not be private this would be seen by your friends and possibly members of the public depending on the settings you have selected. There are also parts where you can but your favourite book, music, films etc.

By using social networking sites you are able to communicate with people that may not be close enough to meet, you are able to play games, chat to more than one person at once, share photos and feelings with friends. Social networking sites can be used to video chat with people all across the world; people have become famous through social networking sites by uploading videos of them singing, pictures of their art work or dancing.

Unfortunately, there can be bullying through these sites, which could lead to suicide. The amount of suicide in the UK from bullying over social networking sites has risen by 25% in the last year. So parents and users have to be very careful with the people their adding and speaking to.

Personally I love using social networking sites, life would not be the same without them.
